Direct Reading of Passenger Information from the ID

Requirement for Collecting Personal Information via UETDS and Efficient Ticketing Solution with abfGO.

When we look at our new IDs and passports, they contain an MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) code. The Turkish explanation is that it means “a region that can be read by a machine.”

Our personal information is contained within this code and can be read with specialized software and hardware.

In the abfGO ticketing system, we can sell tickets integrated into our mobile application using MRZ codes. Similarly, when storing baggage information, we can collect identity details. This eliminates the need for manual entry of incorrect information and identity verification.

Looking at the MRZ code, it includes Name, Surname, Country, Document Type, Document Number, Date of Birth, Nationality, Gender, Expiry Date, and Identity Number. You can review this information from the sample image.

The character type, number of characters, and character size used in preparing the MRZ code are standardized worldwide. Generally, with the implementation of UETDS (Transport Electronic Tracking and Supervision System), the requirement for recording passenger and passenger baggage has been established, necessitating the collection of identity information for both foreign nationals and Turkish citizens. The abfGO ticketing and Baggage Tracking System allows us to complete transactions quickly and avoid possible errors.

When looking at the hardware sold for MRZ reading, reading times range from 3-4 seconds, while with the help of the application, you can achieve a reading speed of up to 1 second, allowing you to complete transactions quickly either at counters or in the field.

Cloud-Based Luggage Tracking System

The abfGO Luggage Tracking System, which is compliant with and integrated with UETDS, has been developed to resolve potential lost luggage incidents and disruptions that passengers may experience during their travels. The abfGO Luggage Tracking System allows for online tracking of all luggage via our cloud-based system at every stage from the beginning to the end of the journey.

In terms of UETDS compliance, while passenger information is not required for luggage and tickets on urban routes, it is necessary and mandatory for all luggage and tickets on intercity routes. Accordingly, our Luggage Tracking System provides a reasonable and consistent solution applicable to both processes.

Our application processes urban routes by creating unique luggage barcodes in the system without requiring passenger information. The passenger is given a receipt and code associated with the luggage barcode in the system. The passenger can use this receipt to check in and track their luggage.

For intercity routes, instead of manually entering the mandatory passenger information, the MRZ code area of passports for foreign passengers and the MRZ code area of ID cards for Turkish citizens are scanned by a handheld terminal at an average speed of 1 second, and the information is recorded in the system to create a unique luggage barcode. A separate code is generated for each piece of luggage, and a luggage receipt is printed by a mobile printer. Additionally, one luggage barcode and receipt are created as a hand receipt and given to the passenger. The hand receipt is matched with the barcodes on the luggage in the system. This allows the passenger to retrieve their luggage with the receipt in hand. In case of potential lost luggage incidents or disruptions, the status of the luggage can be tracked through the system.
